The Ripe Tomato is located just south of Malta, NY - right on RT. 9. The setting is like an old country house and the food matches this feeling well. ...

The Ripe Tomato is an old-shoe kind of place, with its 1950s roadhouse feel emphasized by the taproom adjacent to the main dining room, an overall wood-and-gingham decor accented by all sorts of photo and reproduction artwork -- much of it with a strategically placed tomato in evidence -- and bowls of crayons on the tables to allow kids of all ages to contribute to the artwork using the paper place mats as their canvas... Albany CitySearch Reviews This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area (especially during track season when downtown Saratoga is packed with diners. As a local, it's nice to step away from Broadway during August).  I've eaten here probably more than a dozen times and never had a bad experience. The food is just excellent and I like the little bar area for a happy hour drink or business meeting. I highly recommend the Ripe Tomato. Link to CitySearch Reviews

My family and I have been going to the Ripe Tomato for years.Always great, nothing too sophisticated or crazy, just good americana fare with some German and Italian flare mixed in. Pork Schnitzel is excellent, and their specials are always good. Excellently run.
